We have been very busy trying to attend every event we are invited to! Last Friday we went to Aaptwak’s networking event west of Johannesburg. Held at a great (PRIVATE) venue,  it was excellent to see so many familiar faces and the room was abuzz with Dagga talk – The latest dramas involving the police, the way forward with Cannabis businesses battling the grey areas of the law and enough PRIVATE weed smoking to float a large boat. Jeremy Acton of The Dagga Party of South Africa came up from Cape Town and had a chance to let everyone know about his plans for the upcoming election. We had a chance to remind everyone about our Desired Outcomes project as well as do some punting for DDay and our California Dreaming competition. Everyone enjoyed a good old fashioned South African braai and a fantastic atmosphere. Well done to the Aaptwak crew – your event was legend!

On Saturday evening we headed for the East Rand and the MJ Eats Medicated Supper Club event. You can find them on Instagram @mjeats_za. We arrived at a beautifully decorated venue with everyone in formal dress and on their best behaviour for this PRIVATE event.

We were treated to a 5 course medicated dinner, a very funny MC and a great atmosphere. The organisers had gone to great lengths to keep the invitations private and even had a disclaimer for everyone to sign, waiting at our places. This type of attention to detail is essential as we navigate our way through the grey areas in the law. Stefan, otherwise known as Attorney420 on Instagram & the legal mind behind the disclaimer, gave a speech where he outlined important aspects of the law.

We must admit to being really apprehensive about 5 courses of medicated food and whether we would be able to drive home afterwards. We even took our own CBD drops in case we got too stoned! (Did you know that a few drops of CBD  gets you straight within a few minutes?) Our fears were unfounded as the infusions were carefully thought out and we probably got more stoned from smoking on the patio between courses. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and enough to ensure we were fine for the drive home.

As we have said before, South Africa needs 1000s of small, well organised Cannabis associations, clubs and co-ops. It is essential that everyone do their homework now so that they are up and running and can fit into Fields of Green for ALL’s Proposals for the Legal Regulation of Cannabis in SA. Small, PRIVATE events are a great way to create awareness of your brand and show everyone what you are up to. Advertising on Social Media is NOT the way to go, as recent arrests and general police action have proved.

We are really looking forward to these events coming up soon:

Jules will be joined along the East Coast by controversial Canadian activist Marc Emery. They have 8 events planned along the road so if you are anywhere between Plett and Durban please join us to learn about why Canadian legalisation is not what they thought it would be and meet one of the legends of Cannabis Culture. Thanks very much to our affiliate companies and friends who have organised the venues. More info on last week’s dedicated blog post and the DC Facebook page.

Each venue will have our usual flyers and stickers on sale, as well as competition tickets and The Dagga Couple petition to sign. All Marc Emery Tour events are FREE so bring some cash to support the cause!

GrowUp Sandton is following on the trend where event planners jump on the Cannabis bandwagon. Fields of Green for ALL has been given a stall at no cost so that, as South Africa’s only Cannabis non-profit company and home to all those who contributed to actually changing the law, we can chat to people about what we do and advertise our various projects and fund raising efforts.

If you have a ticket to GrowUp, please come and say hi to Myrtle, Joanne and William! We will have tshirts, stickers, California Dreaming tickets, Outcomes Discussion Documents and other goodies on sale. You can also pick up your free copy of our latest Know Your Rights booklet and sign our petition and receive a free gift for doing so.

After the success of their event in Pretoria in December, the Cannabis Expo team are bringing the event to Cape Town in April. Fields of Green for ALL will be there with our trusty crew so we hope to meet thousands of Capies and keep everyone up to date with our progress towards the legal regulation of Cannabis in South Africa for ALL South Africans. It is, after all, thanks to our court action that these events can happen in the first place. It is expensive for us to travel so please bring your pocket money to support the cause!

If you have an event coming up we would love to hear from you. Drop us a message on our website contact form and we can chat about being there to support you and your efforts!

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL TRADE IN CANNABIS REMAINS STRICTLY ILLEGAL IN SOUTH AFRICA.

Fields of Green for ALL!
