We are proud to announce that Fields of Green for ALL has been granted special consultative status by the United Nations (Economic and Social Council). This milestone is one that has been in the making for years and whilst the fight to end Cannabis prohibition in South Africa is still underway, we are pleased we now have a greater international platform for activism.
“The 19-member Committee considers applications for consultative status and requests for reclassification submitted by non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Once an application has been reviewed and approved by the Committee it is considered recommended for consultative status. Organizations which were granted general and special status can attend meetings of the Council and issue statements, while those with general status can also speak during meetings and propose agenda items. Organizations with roster status can only attend meetings.”
Fields of Green for ALL is currently the only Cannabis activist organisation globally to be given this status and we would like to thank all our team members, especially our international researchers and activists who helped coordinate and monitor our application to the U.N 4 years ago.
Our international colleagues: Kenzi Riboulet-Zemouli, Michael Krawitz and Amy King contributed extensively to our Manifesto, giving much needed international perspective to understanding our Cannabis world. Our Manifesto is available as a free download and is an excellent starting point for anyone wanting to enter the Cannabis industry.
