We endeavour to keep our supporters as much up to speed with the legal side of our case as we are able. Nothing happens quickly in the courts and a year ago our senior council suggested that we ease off on the legal side of the campaign to concentrate on building a large support base for our case.
We have done as best we can, traveling around the country meeting as many of you as we can with our limited resources. We’ve created a nationwide network of passionate DC reps who are spreading the truth about Dagga far and wide. Our flyers are now available in 5 languages, we’re on the cusp of 10 000 signatures for our petition and we have held a number of very successful events.
In the last month we have kick started our legal challenge again, asking our team for direction after our year of social activism.
Things are hotting up and there are a number of very important documents being compiled. Our answer to the State’s demand that we ‘prove’ everything we say in our founding affidavit is the next step. This reply is crucial as it sets out the backbone of our argument and strategy. While drumming up support and making this into a public interest issue we have also been learning. Lots. It is time to move to the next level. The next few months are going to be a costly affair. These documents, as you can imagine, don’t come cheap and we have a few butterflies thinking about it.
We need your help and we need your involvement.
Friends of the DC have offered us a very popular night club venue in downtown Jozi for us to host a fundraiser. It’s a very generous offer, and one we have immediately capitalised on.
So come on Gauteng, show your support and celebrate South African Cannabis Culture with us on Saturday 27th July 2013 from 8pm till 04.20am.
The music lineup includes the Jo’burg King of Swing, Mike Lesar and we are delighted to have Fletcher come to play for us all the way from Cape Town. You can expect some eclectic old time tunes with a cannabis lilt.

Bring some extra cash with you because there are lots of lumo gizmos for sale @Bizarre and Below The Lion will be there with their latest Head Shop items, pipes, blades, clothing, bongs and more. Munchies? leave it to us. There will be a fine selection of baked goods and sweets on offer to go with your coffee. ;)
Our Dagga: The Truth exhibition will be on display so bring a non believing friends for a dance, some dinner and lots of 21st century information. They’ll also find out first hand how well mannered and well behaved all us Dagga users are.

An interesting bit of information you may want to google or dispute or verify Which says a lot about the prejudice around cannabis I picked up somewhere some time ago. Apparently all traces of hemp have been expunged from the Smithsonian textile museum.. When the curator of the museum was asked why there was no reference to hemp, his reply was that we do not wish to confuse the children.
Hello Jock. Thanks for a really interesting snippet. It is high on our agenda to make a case for the Southern African cannabis genome. These land races are ancient and are being systematically eradicated by prohibition. All the industrial cannabis trials in SA are being done with European and Chinese cultivars. How crazy is that!
Two interesting snippets I picked up in this regard…
I hear claims that South African strains are particularly effective in treating type 2 diabetes…. and…
I have an interview video with a Cannabis dispensary owner (I think it was Colorado or San Francisco) where this guy brags proudly that Durban Poison is the only pure undiluted strain they grow.
Thank you guys my wife and I support your cause and want to do more to help.
