Another busy, but optimistic week in the Fields of Green for ALL update on The Hotbox Show last night, featuring special guest Shane from one of our OG affiliates GT Hydro. Shane gives us insight into what it has been like seeing the Cannabis support industry boom, as well as how it’s been negatively affected by COVID.
Cannabis for Private Purposes Bill Update
This week brought another secret meeting – thankfully with a little more notice this time (from less than a day, to less than a week), in the Justice Portfolio Committees Zoom room – with +- 30/40 other people for an update on the Cannabis bill. Advocate Robbertse is the main person involved in the drafting, and is usually joined by Advocate Honorable Swart from the ACDP, Advocate Glynnis Breytenbach from the DA, amongst others involved in the process.
What started as long talk of percentages of THC that left us a bit frustrated, the meeting then took a sudden positive upturn and it was recommended that the bill be adjusted to accommodate the commercialisation of Cannabis in South Africa.
As well as that, the National Cannabis Master Plan might be on track again, as it has been taken away from the Department of Agriculture and put in the Office of the Presidency. Also recommended was an action committee, so let’s see if the name fits the actions of said committee.

On another note of moving forward and looking to bright new horizons, Myrtle welcomed the new intake of Cheeba Academy students on Wednesday with her customary activism lecture to encourage the next generation of promoters of sustainable Cannabis in South Africa.
