If there was ever uncertainty in South Africa about how the country’s current Cannabis laws work, it was probably amplified by the global pandemic that hit South Africa in March 2020. The lockdown has again seen the police make heaps of unlawful arrests, spurred on by the “state of disaster” that apparently allows them to do as they please.

However – nothing has changed. This video is still relevant. For more information, you could also see our Know your rights post.

There was plenty of information and opinion at the recent Sandton Cannabis Expo. For the first time there were two stages, one for presentations and another hosting discussion panels.

Schindlers Attorneys had a booth at the expo answering everyone’s legal questions and handing out branded rolling papers.

Andrew Lawrie, Cannabis attorney at the company, spent some time on the main Expo stage explaining the greyness of the country’s Dagga laws as they now stand.

This 12 minute presentation is a wealth of free legal advice for those of you contemplating your roles in the future of SA’s cannabis industry and your rights as a cannabis user.
