Fields of Green for ALL would like to thank Sarah and Silas and their Expo Team and all vendors and punters for making this a successful event despite these difficult times and broken regulations. Big thanks to sponsors Juicy Fields (whoever you are, we liked your water bottle design) for making the 2021 Cannabis Expo in Sandton possible.
The recurring expo is pretty much the only Dagga event where you will encounter this many participants from so many different backgrounds. Wanna-be participants networked with our promising industry vendors and other Dagga-friendly parties. There was also a convention stage with speakers and panel discussions. We will be negotiating with organisers to highlight the speakers more prominently in future.
The event was a big success with more and more people arriving every day. Myrtle gave a striking talk on our Crisis Points on the Saturday which we will share with you shortly. Our team met many folk from startups to existing brands who told us their stories of struggles with bad and vague regulations in South Africa. Contrasting with the gloomy outlook on regulations the expo outside area became a dancefloor on Saturday afternoon, with nature providing real disco lights in the form of a highveld summer rain storm.
We heard rumours that the narcs were trying to shut down the expo beforehand. This simply illustrates the massive gap we need to fill when it comes to educating the lawmakers and separating wasted police capacity completely from our beloved and versatile plant.
The event seemed like an illustration of the future fully legal industry, representing all the stakeholders who are waiting behind the big gate, which can only be unlocked by removing Cannabis completely from the last apartheid law: The 1992 Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act. This is why our beloved Julian Stobbs used to call it “The Cart Before The Horse Expo”!
We are looking forward to the next Expo which will most likely happen in Cape Town in March 2022!
