Free The Weed, Free The Weed is a global battle cry for the Cannabis legalisation movement.
But wait, let’s analyse this a moment. The weed is free, it’s our use of it that isn’t.
The plant doesn’t get persecuted, we do. So, Free The Weed Users, Free The Weed Users would be a more effective protest.

The most dangerous part of the cannabis plant is being caught with it, and when it happens, it’s a day you’ll never forget. It’s a day the authorities never forget either. A criminal record for Dagga takes many forms but the most regular persecution results in a 10 year suspended sentence for simple possession of the smallest amount.
It is nigh on impossible to have the sentence rescinded and as whole sections of the South African population can attest to, it becomes a real grind looking for employment with a criminal record for weed.

Myrtle was asked her views on the subject on #CapeTalk Radio recently.
You can listen to the interview here:

If you think you have a criminal record for Dagga possession you can start checking the SAPS files with your ID number here:
https://www.saps.gov.za/services/certificate.php

And if you want to apply to have a record over 10 years old rescinded, you can use this form here:

You will need a lawyer at some point to complete the job.
Please note, our National Arrest Helpline is available to you if you end up in the cross hairs of the SAPS for possession and cultivation of Dagga.
