We were delighted with the response to the launch of our Non Profit Organisation in Johannesburg last week. An incredible cross section of the cannabis community had an excellent evening of networking and a chance to catch up with developments on the Dagga Couple’s legal front.
Invited speakers included Paul-Michael Keichel representing Schindlers Attorneys. Schindlers have made it known that they intend representing the DC all the way to the steps of the Constitutional Court at an incredibly discounted rate. We’ve been in consultation with this established firm of experts for many months. It was actually a department of Schindlers who drew up the registration papers for Fields Of Green For ALL last year. It didn’t take long for news to get round Schindlers office that the DC were in the hood and to cut a long story short, weeks later they decided to represent us at the highest level.
Another Schindlers Attorney Kyle Torrington unveiled our plans to start a national network of cannabis sympathetic lawyers.
The idea is to launch South Africa’s first ‘dagga insurance’ called Bail Me Out.
For a R150 month subscription to the Green Network, you’ll download an app to your phone which you load with your details. In the event of you getting arrested, activate the app, the nearest lawyer will be notified and will offer a discount on bail and your first court appearance. Bail Me Out will launch soon.
Adv. Robin Stransham-Ford was also invited to speak. Adv. Stransham-Ford has been advising us on numerous legal matters and his story is nothing short of extraordinary.
A year ago western medicine had all but given up on his prostate cancer. He decided to try concentrated cannabis oil in aggressive doses and we are delighted to report, in the last year his PSA count has reduced from 200 to 0.9. He is, as he says, ‘not dying of cancer, but living with cancer’.
His interest in our case stems from his interest to have dagga legalised for cancer treatment, and as an Advocate in practice, with huge doses of THC in his system, eyebrows were certainly raised at his admission to our audience. We live in interesting times.
During the afternoon prior to the launch we were fortunate to have a skype call with Hon. Mario GR Oriani-Ambrosini. Inkatha Freedom Party. We showed an edited version of Dr. Ambrosini’s conversation to our audience on the night. Dr Ambrosini outlined his plans to table a Bill in parliament called the ‘Medical Innovation Bill’ at the 2014 opening of Parliament. This was big news indeed. His admission that he was also using cannabis to control his inoperable lung cancer was poignant.

It was such a joy to attend the launch of Fields of Green. It was confirmation for me that things are moving forward faster than before, and that I am not alone. I live with multiple sclerosis, and have been in contact with other PwMS in America. One of the people who I chat with is an MS caregiver. He is very much in favour of medical cannabis in various forms, as he has seen what positive results his MS patients have shown. I wait eagerly for the legalization of cannabis in this country, so that I may start growing my own plants and medicating myself by juicing leaves and buds. It was an absolute honour to meet and shake the hand of Adv. Robin Stransham-Ford and hear about Mario Ambrosini and his plans. I left the launch feeling so hopeful – knowing that their efforts, and those of the Dagga Couple are just the absolute tip of a huge iceberg of support and cannabis users that I only ever suspected the existence of before… Thanks to Dr Ambrosini, people are opening up and speaking about their use of cannabis openly – both recreational and medically.
The strength of character and leadership shown by these people has been an eye-opener and I applaud you all.
Thank you all for the hope you have given.
Thank you for your kind words Sue. Onwards and upwards.!
Looking good. Enjoying hearing someone else espousing the telling of the truth version of reality. Individuals, no matter what educational, political or social stance they have will respond in a similar fashion. Yes telling the truth can be dangerous, only there are no lies on the side of the teller of truths that need remembering. One can thus never be “caught out” :)

Hi
We support your efforts one thousand percent!! Well done on all you are achieving and the increased awareness that you are creating! As you say, we live in interesting times: my hope is that cannabis legalisation will be one of many things where the citizens make their voices heard in a quest for a better future for our children…
We, my wife Catja and I, have a 9.8Ha farm outside of Magaliesburg and yesterday we sent in our application for a permit in terms of Section 22A of the Controlled Substances Act of 1965, which makes provision for a permit to be issued by the Department of Health to cultivate or possess a controlled substance for research purposes.
We had a couple of heavy-weight inspectors come out in mid-January to inspect our premises. They sat with us for about an hour, a medical doctor and an advocate from the Dept of Health. They told us that everyone wants to get the permit for textiles or building materials research but they are interested in the THC. So they created a lot of ambiguity about the difference between hemp and marijuana but it was clear to me that they wanted us to actually grow plants with a high THC content!

It would be great to network with you guys and we wish you ultimate success and victory in what is actually a pointless, losing battle for any in authority. The Green Will Be Supreme!
Best wishes
