Hey there just want to congratulate you guys for everything you are doing for south Africa its one step in the right direction finally . I have a problem I was charged about 3 years ago by 2 drunk policeman in plain clothes for possession of dagga. They approached my vehicle while my friend & i were seated having a conversation & demanded to search us for no reason. My friend had a very small amount of dagga in his pocket which he left in the center console before jumping off to get searched. When they found the dagga he denied leaving it there so they charged me because it was found in my car. At the police station I spoke to the station commander &said these officers are drunk & that the person seated next to me left it there. He refused to listen to me &asked if its my 1st offence then just pay a fine &it would be the end of the matter. So I listened & paid not realizing that this fine will result in a criminal conviction against my name. I only realized 1 year after the incident that I have a conviction for possession of dagga once I applied for sap clearance. Had I only known it would have been a record I would have never agreed to pay the fine. I have been to some attorneys but to bring up the case again it will cost me around 30 k which I don’t have. This conviction is really taking a toll on me. I cannot get a descent job because of my record. Is there anything that you could do or advise me to do. Thank you in advance..:)
