Many of you will have heard about our three day music festival ‘Weedstock In The Cradle’ to be held the last weekend of January in the bushveld 45 minutes NW of Johannesburg.
For some months, along with our event partners, we’ve put a lot of time, effort and planning into this gathering. In November we created a Facebook event page to cover all the latest updates, lineup, venue info etc.

During November we quietly boosted the event page before everyone went on Christmas holidays, just to get the ball rolling and get some word of mouth going.
Facebook were happy to take our money – (we have a long standing advertising account with them) and the post was boosted to over 70,000 people in December.

We relaxed the marketing (and ourselves) over the festive season and then got straight back into the groove early in January.

When we applied for another event boost of R1000 over 7 days, we were declined because ‘your ad can’t promote illegal activity, products or services’. Not only that, the event has been share blocked (even with a cut and paste of the URL) and to top it all off, our daggacouple.co.za email domain seems to be blocked too.

The event page is still up and running but we are blocked from editing the details. The word ‘cannabis’ appears in the event description which is probably where the alarm bells went off. The irony now is that we’ve tried to re-word the event, but we’re not allowed in.

So, gang, it’s up to you to get the word out for us by other means and create links for your world to click on to get to ‘Weedstock In The Cradle’.
If you’re tweeting the Weedstock logo please use #WIC or tag us with @daggacouple on Instagram.

Tickets sales are steady and, although cash tickets are available at the door, we would appreciate it if you can buy your tickets beforehand. Get your online tickets exclusively from Ticibox. It’s only R250 for 3 days camping or R100 on Sunday Funday from 8am.
Over 60 artists from multiple genres to keep you out of mischief. A complete bargain….surrounded by pristine bush and a huge night sky…

Please share this post far and wide. Let’s show everyone just how ridiculous Facebook is to ban the sharing of a fundraising music festival.
Are we that much of a threat or is it because hempcrete is made from an illegal product? Or the accessories the glass blowers make are an illegal shape? Or the hemp seed smoothies make us all enemies of the state? Or is it illegal to get the munchies for all the delicious food on sale?

Keep checking the event page. The lineup is full and the village market is diversely populated with interesting stalls and food.

Keep it green and we’ll see you in the Cradle Of Humankind for Weedstock In The Cradle 2016
