Groote-Schuur-Hospital

This extensive study into the effects of the cannabis sativa plant on humans was conducted by Dr Frances Ames and her team at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. Her findings were published in the South African  Journal of Mental Science in October 1958. This was, at the time, the most comprehensive and ‘scientific’ research done in South Africa to date and makes for fascinating reading from a bygone age. Excellent historical background to the plant and it’s uses and customs in Southern Africa. The report marveled at the plants non toxicity.
