Jamaica decriminalises personal possession of Cannabis in what the Justice Minister Mark Golding called a “more enlightened approach” to dealing with cannabis possession.

Cannabis is decriminalised for religious, medical and scientific purposes. Jamaicans are now able to carry up to two ounces (50g) of cannabis without fear of criminal prosecution.
However – “the proposed changes to the law are not intended to promote or give a stamp of approval to the use of ganja for recreational purposes”.
